THE LESSONS
I am keen to inspire all ages and abilities, making learning enjoyable and focused on making rapid progress through good routines and habits, essential for every age and level.
I will develop theory and aural skills in every lesson and prepare students for exams and next steps where required.
The first trial lesson will include a conversation to establish the purpose and aims of the lessons. Give it a try and see how it goes!
Costs: £25 for standard 30 min and £40 for a full hour when needed.
Beginner
You really like the sound of the clarinet or saxophone and want to have a go. Soon you could have enough skill to play interesting tunes and make music with others. Learning an instrument is good for your overall wellbeing, physical health and overall brain development
Intermediate to Advanced
You can already play some really interesting music and may have achieved a grade 5 exam level but now require the technique and musicality required to play the best and most challenging music written for the instrument and work towards grade 8.
Some say you really start to learn after you have achieved your grade 8. You may think you have ‘mastered’ your instrument but feel you would benefit from high level feedback. This could be to stretch your technique further, try alternative techniques and tricks, or it could be for feedback on a piece you are currently playing.
This could be a one-off consultation or a short series, for example one per month over 3 months
Advanced player consultation
Never too old to learn
Many adults go through life listening to younger musicians and say ‘I wish I had learned to play a musical instrument.’ So what is stopping you? It is great for your wellbeing, keeps you physically and mentally fit. If you can make the time to build some practice into your weekly routine and you have an instrument then you are good to go. If you fear musical notation we can get around that barrier by learning in flexible ways. Adults I have worked with often enjoy learning to read the music or you can play without reading music but there is no pressure to do so.
